SIMEON BERNARD COSBY, age 43 of York, Alabama was born April 1, 1981 in Livingston; Sumter County, Alabama to the union of the late Samuel Cosby and Cennie Holloway. He surrendered to the Will of God and transitioned July 05, 2024 at 11:56 a.m. at Hill Hospital of Sumter County. Service of Remembrance and Life Celebration is slated for Saturday, July 13, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. from Small Memorial A.M.E. Zion Church, located 19 County Hwy 21, Demopolis, where Rev. Edward Seaborn is church pastor. Mr. Cosby will lie in repose one hour prior to funeral time. Interment follows in Miller Chapel Cemetery, also Demopolis. Visitation for family and friends is scheduled Friday evening, (July 12th) from 3-6:00 p.m. in the Weatherly Repose Room. During his youth, his Spiritual journey began when he accepted Christ as his personal Savior and joined Wesley Chapel CME Church in the Grant City community of York, Alabama. He attended Livingston Jr. High School and graduated from Livingston High School and while a student he was a member of the Basketball team. After graduating High School, one of his first job experiences was at TWL Variety Store and the Bill Dollar Store Chain. Then he went to Welding school in Meridian, Mississippi and stayed in the Welding Industry business for more than twenty years.. His last employment was with Fontaine Corporation in Springville, Alabama. Simeon was united in Holy Matrimony to Shelia Ann Cooks on August 29, 2008 and remained happily married up until his final days. His hobbies included a passion for hunting and he also enjoyed basketball and outdoor activities such as lawn care and anything involving the outside. Those who preceded him in death are his loving father and his brother Tyrone. To remember precious memories and to celebrate his life are: his loving wife, Shelia Cook Cosby, York, AL, his twins - Na'Kiyah Charnell and Na'Keenan Khalil Brown of Tuscaloosa, AL:., and son, Cedric Cooks, Birmingham, AL., his grandchildren - Kylan Amir and Khy'Ree Josiah Brown, both of Tuscaloosa, AL, and Cherish S. Cooks of Demopolis, AL; his devoted loving mother, Cennie (Stacy) Jackson of Butler, AL; his sisters - Quintina Cosby and Lateisha (Walter) Hampton, both of Birmingham, AL, and Kate (Christopher) Thurman of Atlanta, GA and his brother Calvin of Biloxi, MS; along with nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends who will truly miss him.
