With heavy hearts and profound sorrow, we announce the passing of Rosaline Kennedy Buchanan. A beloved mother, grandmother, aunt, and esteemed educator, Rosaline touched the lives of many with her warmth, wisdom, and grace. Born on October 16, 1947, in Selma, Alabama, Rosaline dedicated her life to the pursuit of knowledge and the nurturing of young minds.

Rosaline's passion for education led her to a successful career as a teacher for 35 years with the Birmingham Board of Education, where she inspired countless students with her dedication and love for teaching. Her impact on the community and the lives she touched will forever be remembered.

She was preceded in death by her parents the Honorable Howard and Lillian Kennedy, York, AL and beloved husband Perry Buchanan and her brother, Raymond H. Kennedy.  She is survived by her loving daughter Edrice Buchanan, cherished granddaughter Lauren Kennedy Buchanan, niece Lisa Kennedy Felder, great niece Megan Felder, great nephew David Chad Felder and great great nephew Nolan. Rosaline's spirit of kindness and generosity will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her.

A public viewing to celebrate Rosaline's life will be held at the Westside Funeral Home, 5695 Valley Road, Fairfield, AL, on September 19, 2024, at 3:00 pm. Family and friends are invited to join in paying their respects at the Graveside Service at Elmwood Memorial Gardens, York, AL on September 20, 2024, at 2:00 pm. A reception in honor of Rosaline will take place at WaterMark Place 4500 Katies Way, Bessemer, AL on September 21, 2024, at 1:00 pm.

In remembering Rosaline, we honor her legacy of love, compassion, and commitment to education. As we gather to bid her farewell, let us celebrate a life well-lived and a soul deeply cherished. May she rest in eternal peace.
