PHILLIP WARREN MITCHELL, age 36 of Tuscaloosa, Alabama was born November 08, 1989 to the blessed union of George and Cynthia Larkin Mitchell. He peacefully transitioned to the Will of God surrounded by loving family on May 27, 2026 at 4:10 p.m. at DCH Regional Medical Center, also Tuscaloosa. Graveside Service of Remembrance and Life Celebration is slated for Sunday afternoon, May 31, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. in the Larkin family plot of Elmwood Memorial Gardens, 11313 US Highway 11, York, Alabama. Rev. Marvin Cherry will bring words of comfort and consolation to his family, friends and associates. Should there be inclement weather, the services will be held at First Baptist Church, Epes, Alabama, located 20 Nelson Highway 11,.where the pastor is Rev. Chris Holcomb. After the Committal Service, the family will join friends to fellowship for Repast at the Epes Community Center.
Phillip loved being around family and friends. Whether he was watching a game, fishing, hunting, joking with those close to him or simply spending time with the people he loved, he brought warmth and laughter wherever he went. At the age of twenty-five, Phillip's life changed after an incident left him paralyzed and reliant on a wheelchair. While his physical circumstances changed, the core of who he was never did. He continued to live with strength, humor, resilience and determination - becoming a source of inspiration to many who faced challenges of their own.
More than anything else, Phillip was a Christian, devoted father, son, brother, uncle and friend. His belief in God helped to guide him through life's challenges and remained an important part of who he was. Though his time here was far too short, the impact he had on people around him will not be forgotten.
He is survived by his daughter, Kaylie Mitchell; his parents, George and Cynthia Mitchell; his brothers, Robert (Kimberly) Mitchell, and Lamont Freeman; his sister, Sharminer Payne; his "special siblings" - Alexis, Jaeden and Bryson Mitchell; along with many extended family members and lifelong friends.
To the entire Mitchell family, we at Weatherly Funeral Home offer to each of you our most sincere and heartfelt sympathy and condolences. Our prayer remains that your abiding faith in God will lend to you a measure of comfort to strengthen and sustain you during your time of most profound sorrow.
