MARJORIE "Marge" HUTCHINS REED, age 77, of Kansas City, Kansas, born to the late James and Irma Pearl Wrenn Hutchins in Emelle, Sumter County, Alabama, transitioned and entered into eternal rest February 17, 2018 at her Kansas City residence.  Graveside Service of Remembrance is Saturday, March 10, 2018 at 11:30 a.m in New Jones Cemetery, Highway 17, Emelle.  Rev. Ben T. Broaden will deliver the eulogy and offer words of comfort and consolation;  Rev. Coley Rogers is New Jones pastor. Visitation for family and friends is scheduled from 10:00-11:00 a.m. in the Weatherly Chapel; afterwards the processional leaving the funeral home for the cemetery.               There was a church service held in Kansas March 2, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. from Bible Temple Missionary Baptist Church; 2804 Hiawatha Street, Kansas City, KS with Pastor Bobby Young officiating.         She attended public school in Emelle and Livingston, Alabama.  She confessed her faith in Jesus Christ at an early age uniting with Dawsey Baptist Church (now New Jones Baptist Church).       She was united in marriage to the late Henry Reed in 1958, but later divorced,  She moved to Berkeley, California in the early 1960's where she worked in retail, and lived there for over twelve years.  Later she moved to Junction City, Kansas  and worked at the military base in Ft. Riley, Kansas, then moved back to California.  Marge then relocated to Kansas City, Kansas in the mid 1970's where she continued to work in retail for the Safeway grocery store chain until her retirement on disability in 1984.       She united with Bible Temple Baptist Church, Kansas City, Kansas, and remained a faithful member until her illness in 2012.  Several years ago, her son Lester Cornell Reed, both parents, two sisters -Essie Mae Woods and Anna Bertha Handy preceded her in death.       Those left to mourn her passing and to celebrate and cherish a precious life well lived are:  her two daughters;  Gloria Jean Wilson and Edna Bell Reed, both of Kansas City, KS; two sisters, Bernice Levert, Ft. Morgan, Colorado and Myrtle Hunter, Northport, AL., one brother, Sam Hutchins of Kansas City, KS; her grandchildren- Lester Johnson, Gladys Johnson, Thomas Robinson, Carlos Reed, Tulsa, OK., Walter Robinson, Tamica Reed (David) Banks,  and great grandchildren, all of the Kansas City area.  She is further survived by numerous other relatives and friends who loved her dearly.  Truly she will be missed.       To the entire Hutchins and Reed families, we at Weatherly Funeral Home offer to each of you our most sincere and heartfelt sympathy and condolences.  Our prayer remains that your abiding faith in God will continue to comfort, to strengthen and sustain you during your time of bereavement.
