MABLE BEATRICE LAWSON, age 102, of Cuba, Alabama, the third child of thirteen born in Mt. Sterling, Choctaw County, Alabama to the late Bennie Frank and Mamie Gregg Brown, and affectionately known as "Beatty" passed at her residence April 8, 2017.  Service of Remembrance is Saturday afternoon, April 15, 2017 at 12:00 from Union Chapel CME Church, Ward, Alabama with Rev. Walter Ball delivering the eulogy and offering words of comfort and consolation; Rev. James Campbell is church pastor.  Sister Lawson will lie in repose one hour prior to funeral time.  Interment follows in Coakes Chapel Cemetery, also Ward.   After the committal service, repast is in the Fellowship Hall of Union Chapel. Visitation for family and friends is scheduled for Friday evening (April 14th) from 3-6:00 p.m. in the Weatherly Chapel.  The funeral cortege will leave from the Lawson residence Saturday morning at 11:40 a.m.       Sister Mable confessed faith in Christ at the tender age of twelve joining Little Walker C..M.E. Church in Butler, Al. and later united with Townsend Mission C.M.E. Church, Ward, Al. and now Union Chapel C.M.E. Church.  She served in many auxiliaries while at Union Chapel, which included:  Sunday School Teacher, choir president and stewardess.  She received "Emeritus" status and remained a faithful servant until her health started to diminish; however, she still attended church when she was able.       Mable was united in holy matrimony to Willie Lawson, Sr. on January 29, 1939 in Sumter County, Alabama and to this union were born eight children;  there being eleven children all together.       Those who preceded her in death are - her parents;  nine siblings- Rosie, Jesse, Joe L., Charlie, David L., Clem and Vester Brown, Lucy Sheffield and Hettie McDonald; two sons - Willie V. and Kaiser Lawson (step-son whom she loved dearly and claimed as her own.)       Sister Mable leaves to cherish precious memories from a long and beautiful life lived which spoke for itself:  her children- Vera M. Jones, York, AL; Erma (James) Owens, Inkster, MI; Robert (Martha) Lawson, Ward, AL; Mary (John) Cook, Patterson, N.J; Marjorie Mitchell, Montgomery, AL; Minnie (Ronnie) White; Eddie (Talitha) Lawson; Geraldine L. (Tony) Watkins, Ward, AL; and Roger (Clyda) Lawson, Apopka, FL; her siblings - Edgar C. Brown, Matthew (Frances) Brown and Eula Denson, Youngstown, OH; two special nephews; Dancy Sheffield, Ward, AL. and Charles Sheffield, Youngstown, OH;  a special niece, Betty (T.C.) Drummond, Ward, AL; and Rev. Walter Ball, Birmingham, AL., who both she and her mother Mamie claimed as their own son; numerous grandchildren; great grandchildren; great-great grandchildren; great great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and many other family members and friends who loved her dearly.       To the Lawson and Brown family, we at Weatherly Funeral Home offer to each of you our most sincere and heartfelt sympathies and condolences.  Our prayer remains that your abiding faith in God will continue to comfort, to strengthen and sustain you during your time of sorrow.
