Linda Louise Artis

Ms. Linda Louise Artis, age 73 of York, Alabama was born to the Blessed union of the late Leroy and Katie Lee Dove Artis. She peacefully transitioned to the will of God at Hill Hospital of Sumter County on September 27, 2026 at 7:06 a.m. Service of Remembrance and Life Celebration is slated for Saturday, October 10, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church, located 1000 US Highway 11, Cuba, AL with interment and service of Committal to follow in the adjacent Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. Rev. Ronnie Walk (Pastor of Shady Gove Baptist Church, Quitman, MS) is to deliver the eulogy offering words of comfort and consolation; Rev. James Granger is church pastor. Visitation for family and friends is scheduled Friday evening, October 9th from 3-5:00 p.m. in the Weatherly Chapel. Sister Artis will lie in repose one hour prior to funeral time.  The processional leaves with escort service from the family residence at 12:40 p.m.  After the Committal, the family will Fellowship for repast at Pop Start Community Space, York, AL; 211 North Broad Street.

Linda accepted Christ at an early age and joined Mount Pleasant Baptist Church in Cuba, Alabama.

Linda began her education at York West End Junior High School. At York West End Junior High School, she attended first grade through twelfth grade. She graduated in May of 1970, and her class was the last high school class to graduate before the ninth-grade class moved to Sumter County High School.

She was preceded in death by her father, Leroy Artis; her mother, Katie Lee Artis-Green; her brother, Johnny Roy Green; her nephew, Demond Ruffin; and her nephew, SPC Donzell Kiante Brooks, whom she reared and loved as a son.

Linda leaves to cherish her memory her two sons, Larry Robinson of York, AL, and Marvin (Noaque) Artis of McDonough, GA; her granddaughter, Kaliyah Artis of McDonough, GA; her two brothers, Larry Lee Artis of York, AL, and Joseph Troy (Ungenetta) Green of Kingsland, GA; and her four sisters, Mariah Ann (Alvin) White of Racine, WI, and Sandra LeNora Green, Debra Ann Green, and Carolyn Marie Artis-Brooks, all of York, AL.

Linda held a special place in her heart for her many nieces and nephews, including Ernest (Detera) Giles, Eric (Javon) Giles, Angela Barron-Giles, Katie (Quincy, Sr.) Horn, Tyrice Green, LaKeisha Broughton, Larry Lee Artis, Jr., Anthony Artis, Miranda Artis, Jasmine Artis, Kevin Ruffin, Dekendrick (Tamiko) Ruffin, Donovan Brooks, Sr., Troynica (Garrett) Williams, and Cynthia Green; and her devoted nephew and caregiver, Joseph Sebastian D’Arius Green, whose presence and care meant so much to her. She also treasured her great-nieces and great-nephews, including Quincy Horn, Jr., Katelyn Horn, Tyiana Artis, Donovan Brooks, Jr., and Eric Keon Brooks, as well as her special cousin, Nichole Bashem. She leaves many other nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and extended family members to cherish her memory.
