JULIUS VAWTERS, JR., age 75, of Bellamy, Alabama, affectionately known by many as "Buddy" was born to the union of the late Julius and Sarah Ward Vawters, Sr. February 17, 1949. He surrendered to the Will of God and peacefully transitioned with loving family around him July 5, 2024 at DCH Regional Medical Center, Tuscaloosa. Graveside Service of Remembrance and Life Celebration is slated for Saturday, July 13, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. in Elmwood Memorial Gardens, 11313 US Highway 11, York, Alabama. Rev. Marcus Lawrence will deliver the eulogy, offering words of comfort and consolation. Visitation for family and friends is scheduled Friday evening (July 12th) from 3-6:00 p.m. in the Weatherly Chapel. This will be a combined visitation and funeral service with his brother, Jimmie Earl Vawters. At an early age, he confessed faith in Christ and united with the Friendship Baptist Church. He attained his diploma from the Sumter County Training School in 1967 and would pursue career opportunities soon after in New York, N. Y. Upon his return locally, Julius offered his many talents to professional endeavors with Weatherly Funeral Home, Walmart and Mannington to highlight a few. He also successfully obtained his Commercial Driver's License from the USA Training Academy. Julius was an avid gardener, lover of music, and faithfully called community members to spread joy. His beloved grandmother, Susie Vawters; parents, Julius and Sarah Ward Vawters, Sr; two siblings, Audrey A. Vawters Johnson and Jimmie E. Vawters; one brother-in-law, George Tensley; and one great nephew, Khairi Stanton proceeded him in death. Those left to cherish the precious memories created and to celebrate his life - three children; Barry Caldwell, Sr. of Summerton, SC; Genethie Smith (Ryan) of Jonesboro, GA; and Zeldra Vawters of Clovis, NM; four grandchilddren - Barry Jr., Armani, Madison and McKenzie; two sisters - Barbara Tensley of Bellamy, AL, and Sandra (Larry, Sr) Stanton of Panola, AL; two brothers - Alvin Vawters and Edward Vawters both of Bellamy, AL; three nieces, ten nephews; and a host of great nephews, great nieces, cousins, other relatives and friends who loved him dearly and whom he also loved. Truly "Buddy" will be missed! To the entire Vawters Family, especially his son Barry, and his daughters, Zeldra and Genethie, we the Weatherly Funeral Home Family, (where Julius was a part of many years ago as an employee), offer to each of you our most sincere and heartfelt sympathy and condolences. Our prayer remains that your abiding faith in God will continue to lend to you a measure of comfort that will strengthen and sustain you during your time of bereavement.
