Jimmie Earl Vawters, age 71, of Bellamy, Alabama, affectionately known by many as "Crick" was born July 16, 1952 to the blessed union of Julius and Sarah Millie Ward Vawters, Sr. Jimmie peacefully transitioned to the Will of God and entered into eternal rest on June 29, 2024 at Regency Hospital, Meridian, Mississippi. Graveside Service of Remembrance and Life Celebration is slated for Saturday, July 13, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. in Elmwood Memorial Gardens, located 11313 US Highway 11, York, Alabama. Rev. Marcus Lawrence will deliver the eulogy, offering words of comfort and consolation. Visitation for family and friends is scheduled Friday evening (July 12th) from 3-6:00 p.m. in the Weatherly Chapel. This will be a combined visitation and graveside service with his brother Julius Vawters, Jr. At an early age he confessed faith in Christ and united with the Friendship Baptist Church. Jimmie was educated in the Sumter County Public School System. He worked at American Lumber Company for many years before his health failed him. He was an easygoing, humble man who was always kind and greeted others with a smile. His beloved grandmother, Susie Vawters; parents - Julius and Sarah Ward Vawters, Sr; one sibling, Audrey A. Vawters Johnson; one brother-in-law, George Tensley; and one great nephew, Khairi Stanton proceeded him in death. He is remembered and survived by two daughters - Sonya (Kenneth) Webb of Montgomery, AL. and Andrea Deralynn Vawters of Meridian, MS; one grandson - Kenson Webb of Montgomery, AL; two sisters - Barbara Tensley of Bellamy, AL., and Sandra (Larry, Sr.) Stanton of Panola, AL; two brothers - Alvin and Edward Vawters, both of Bellamy, AL; three nieces, ten nephews; and a host of great nephews, great nieces, cousins, other relatives and friends who loved him dearly and whom he also loved.
