Brother Floyd Alexander, age 83, of York, Alabama, born to the late Rev. Thomas Alexander, Jr. and the late First Lady Mamie Alexander Roberts, peacefully transitioned June 24, 2019 at Hill Hospital of York, Alabama.  Memorial services are slated for Saturday, June 29, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. from New Hope Baptist Church, 702 North Broad Street, York.  Pastor Akiva Burton is the officiant delivering the eulogy and offering words of comfort and  consolation; with Sister Rachel Roberts serving  as Mistress of Order.  Visitation for family and friends is Friday evening (June 28th) from 3-6:00 p.m. in the Weatherly Chapel.  He found Christ at an early age and grew up in New Hope Baptist Church under the direction and leadership of his Step-Father, the late Rev. C. M. Roberts.  Floyd never met a stranger and loved people.  As  he ventured beyond York, Alabama and back, Floyd lived in Akron, Ohio,  Pensacola, Florida and Huntsville, Al.  He worked at Weatherly Funeral Home during his early years, then the  Mill in Bellamy, Al and later drove trucks with McElroy Trucking  Company  in Cuba, Alabama, among the many jobs held in his lifetime. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Winnie Alexander; his last wife, Mary Alexander, daughter, Diane Alexander, sons Dennis Alexander and Kenney Carter, a brother Willie Roberts, Sr, and sisters - Mary Ann Roberts and Annie M. Wheeler. Those who remain to cherish precious memories and to celebrate his life are:  three daughters - Patti Alexander of Houston, TX; Kathy Alexander of Akron, OH and Sandy Alexander, also of Akron, OH; one son, Jeremy Alexander of  New Jersey; one step-daughter, Carl  Mae Bell of Akron,Oh; two sisters - Lola Powe of Saginaw, MI and Christine Roberts DeLoach of York, Alabama;  one sister-in-law, Rachel Roberts of York, AL., one brother-in-law, Norris Powe, Saginaw, MI;  18 grandchildren;  29 great-grandchildren;  3 great-great grandchildren;  a host of nieces, nephews;  a special friend, Annie Ruth Nelson of York, AL; and last but not least, his beloved pet Poodle, Star. To the entire Alexander and Roberts Family, the Weatherly Funeral Home Family offer to each of you our most sincere and  heartfelt sympathy and  condolences.  Our prayer remains that your abiding  faith in God will continue to comfort, to strengthen and  sustain you during your many hours of sorrow.
