ETHEL LEE WILSON, age 84 of Charlotte, N. C. formerly of York, Alabama, born to the late Eddie and Fannie Mae Thomas Rodgers in Jachin, Choctaw County; Alabama, transitioned April 28, 2018 at the residence of her granddaughter, Sylvia Wilson.  Service of Remembrance is Saturday, May 5, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. from Eastern Star Baptist Church in the Grant City community of York.  Elder Mansel Brown will deliver the eulogy with Rev. Jimmy E. Johnson offering words of comfort and consolation;  Rev. Charles H. Delaine is church pastor.  Sister Wilson will lie in repose for a one hour visitation prior to funeral time.  Interment follows in Elmwood Memorial Gardens, Highway 11 East, also in York, Alabama.  After the  committal service, repast is in the Fellowship Hall of Eastern Star.  On Friday evening (May 4th) friends and family will visit from 3-6:00 p.m. in the Weatherly Funeral Home Chapel.       Ethel was a long-time resident of both York, Alabama and Minneapolis, Minnesota.  At an early age she confessed faith in Christ at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church and later became a  faithful member and was well loved by all at Eastern Star.  While in Minneapolis she faithfully attended Greater Friendship Baptist Church.  She was one of eleven (11) siblings of which Willie, Lamon, David and Dorothy Rodgers, Mary Tanks and Rachel Rodgers Law preceded her in death.       She was joined in holy matrimony July 21, 1950 to the late Alonzo Wilson and to this union were born four children; her son Jeffrey having preceded her in death.       Ethel's life was filled with caring for her family and volunteering.  After working as a produce clerk at the Commissary on the Minot Air Force Base and then later working as a painter, she retired and moved to York, Alabama.  While in Minneapolis,  she volunteered much of her time at the Sabathani Community Center and Salvation Army.  Ethel enjoyed collecting items from thrift stores, churches and garage sales.  But, most of all, she enjoyed and cherished the time spent with her grand and great grandkids.        Ethel’s dedication and love for her family will forever be remembered. She leaves to cherish her precious memories, one daughter: Lorraine Futrell of Minneapolis, MN; two sons: Alonzo Wilson Jr of Minot, ND; Eric Wilson of Phoenix, AZ; three sisters: Mae Helen (Joseph) Hale of Detroit, MI; Annie Rodgers of York, AL; Josephine Rodgers of Mobile, AL; a brother, Eddie (Ada) Rodgers, Jr., also of Mobile, AL; one half-brother: James Rumley of Eutaw, AL; one special granddaughter: Sylvia Wilson of Charlotte, NC; two grandsons; Ira Wilson of St. Paul, MN and Frederick Futrell Jr of Minneapolis, MN; eight great-grandchildren: Dakkari Lynn-Wilson, Ethan Blanton-Wilson, Zariah Wilson and Zahir Wilson of Charlotte, NC; Frederick Futrell III of Detroit, MI; Kendrick Futrell of Minneapolis, MN; Makehba Nelson-Wilson and Ashea Wilson of St. Paul, MN; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and extended family and friends who loved her dearly. Ethel will truly be missed.
