Edgar Kennedy, Jr.

EDGAR KENNEDY, JR, age 83, of Upper Marlboro, MD, affectionately known by many as "CooBoo" and "Papa" by his grandchildren, was born September 27, 1940 to the late Edgar and Emma Amerson Kennedy in Livingston; Sumter County, Alabama. He peacefully transitioned to the Will of God July 9, 2024 at Anne Arundel Medical Center in Annapolis, MD. Service of Remembrance is slated for Friday, July 26, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. from First Baptist Church of Highland Park, 6801 Sheriff Road, Landover, MD; visitation being one hour prior to funeral time. Interment follows in National Harmony Memorial Park. As a young boy his Spiritual sunrise in Christ began in Livingston, AL., when he joined the Shiloh Baptist Church under the pastorate and leadership of the late Rev. D. L. Bell. After moving to several locations and reuniting with a church in each area, he and his family along with his younger sister, Bertha Lee Kennedy, went back to their religious roots and reconnected with First Baptist Church of Landover. This is where he remained a dutiful and faithful member until God called him to his eternal rest. Above all he was taught to be a loving and supportive husband, father, brother and friend and to put God first in his life. "To God Be The Glory!" He leaves to mourn his passing and to cherish his memories: a loving wife, Mrs. Lula Mae Goree Kennedy; two daughters and two sisters, Mrs. Rosie Kennedy Rumley-Elder of Atlanta, GA., and Ms. Bertha L. Kennedy, Upper Marlboro, MD; grandchildren; great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, many cousins, other family and friends.
