DOROTHY LEE TUCKER, age 74, of Oak Park, Michigan, formerly of Sumter County, York, Alabama, was born December 2, 1948 to the union of the late S. L. and Ora Dee White Landrum. Sister Tucker peacefully fell asleep in death at her Michigan residence on December 22, 2022. Service of Memory and Life Celebration is slated for Saturday, January 7, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. in the York West End Jr High School's Gymnasium. Her nephew, Brother Adrian Patrick will serve as officiant. Sister Tucker will lie in repose at the school one hour prior to funeral time. Interment follows in Elmwood Memorial Gardens, 11313 US Highway 11, York, Alabama. Visitation for family and friends is scheduled Friday evening, January 6th from 3-5:00 p.m. in the Weatherly Chapel. On Saturday morning, the processional leaves from 147 Weatherly Circle (Lester Samuel's residence) at 10:40 a.m. After the committal service, repast is in the school's Cafeteria. Dorothy attended school in Sumter County, Alabama. She was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses. She was united in Holy matrimony to Mr. Alvin B. Samuel, Sr. of Natchitoches, Louisiana, who preceded her in death in November 0f 1980. To this union three children were born. Years later, she married Mr. Harold Tucker of York, Alabama, who also preceded her in death February of 2004. Those who remain to celebrate a beautiful well-lived life are: her children Lester (LaToya) Samuel of York, AL., Valerie M. Samuel, Oak Park, MI. and Alvin (Shelia) Samuel of Virginia Beach, VA; her granddaughter who she raised as her own Kapisha Ward; grandchildren, Nicholas, Khadijah, Lester Jr., Trans, Carlos, Jordan, Kelvin, Kalecia, Darius ad Alonna; seven great grandchildren; siblings - one sister, Rosie Lee (the late Essie) Grant of Newnan, GA, and two brothers, Sammie Lee (Annie Pearl) Landrum and Johnny Earl (Frankie) Landrum, both of York, AL; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends who loved her dearly and whom she also loved. Truly "Dot" will be missed! She was preceded in death by her three sisters, Bessie (Johnny) Crawford, Dorothy Jean and Laura Neal Landrum; five brothers, R. L., Willie (Lessie), Jimmie, Bernard, and Charles (Lola) Landrum. To the entire Tucker/Landrum Family, and especially her care-giver daughter Valerie Samuel, we at Weatherly Funeral Home offer to each of you our most sincere and heartfelt sympathy and condolences.
