DERRICK RAMAN "Old Man" JACKSON, age 51 of York, Alabama, born to Willie Jackson of Detroit, Michigan and Andrea Kate McCoy Jackson of York, Alabama, transitioned and entered into eternal rest at his residence, May 4, 2019.  Service of Remembrance is slated for Saturday, May 11, 2019 at 3:00 p.m. from the Gymnasium of York West End Jr. High School.  Interment follows in Mount Herman Cemetery, Millville Road #19, also York.  After the committal service, repast will be at the Old Interstate Ford Building, downtown York, Alabama.  Visitation for family and friends is scheduled Friday evening, May 10, 2019 from 3-6:00 p.m. in the Weatherly Chapel. At 2:30 p.m. on Saturday afternoon, the processional leaves from the parking lot of Weatherly Funeral Home. Derrick was educated in the Sumter County School System, with previous education within the Detroit Public School System  He attended the St. John Providence Missionary Baptist Church of Detroit, Michigan, and became a regular attendee of several ministries in Alabama. He possessed a legendary sense of humor.  There was no one who did not laugh in his presence.  He devoted much of his time and energy to his family, friends, and career as a commercial truck driver. Derrick was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter Bianca Lawson, three aunts, six uncles and a special friend Katie Scott. His life, joyful memories, smile and sense of humor will always be remembered and cherished by: his daughter Tyanna and step-daughter Antrilla Lawson, two sons- Prentice (Reshonda) and Demarkus (Deja) Lawson of York Alabama;  four grandchildren- Zy-Niyah, Zy-Corey, Kalenigha, and Morgan Lawson of York, AL., one sister, Tressie (Freddie Brown) Jackson, an extended brother, Larry Patman, one nephew, Jeremiah Jackson all of Detroit, Michigan; aunts and uncles - Annie Lightfoot, Deloris Joseph, Charles McCoy of Alabama;  Carolina Sims of Ohio, and Herman (Doris) McCoy of Michigan, Carolyn Lawson, the mother of his children, all of York, Alabama;  many friends, cousins, and relatives who loved him dearly.   To the entire Jackson/Lawson/McCoy Family, we at Weatherly Funeral Home, offer to each of you our most sincere and heartfelt sympathy and condolences.  Our prayer remains that your abiding faith in God will continue to lend a measure of comfort to strengthen and sustain you during your most profound time of sorrow.
