ARTHUR DELAINE, age 84, of Cuba, Alabama, born October 8, 1936 to the union of the late Allie Parker (A.P.) and Pallee Grant Delaine, transitioned and entered into eternal rest at UAB Medical Center, Birmingham, Alabama, July 23, 2021. Service of Remembrance and Life Celebration is slated for Saturday, July 31, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Zion Hill Baptist Church, 5901 Kinterbish 10, Cuba, with Pastor C. Wayne Davis delivering the eulogy and offering expressions of comfort and consolation. Visitation for family and friends is scheduled from 3-6:00 p.m. (Friday, July 30th) in the Weatherly Chapel. Interment follows in the Delaine Family plot of Cagus Cemetery, Kinterbish 10, also Cuba, Alabama. He received his high school education from the Sumter County Public School System. Upon graduation he joined the United States Army and served for several years. He was a member of Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church. In addition, he was a farmer, a brick mason, an associate member of the Sumter County Retired Educators Association and a mentor to many. He was preceded in death by brothers and sisters: Allie William Delaine, Sarah Frye, Dorothy, Samuel, B. W. Sr., Brad "Jack" Delaine, and Annie Swan; sisters-in-law Rebecca Moore, Mary Magee, Larcenia Salas, Minnie Butchee, Regina Rew and brothers-in-law Willie Foster, Jr., Gene Carson, Leroy Rew, Leotis Rew Sr., and Lewis Swan and one grandson - Daniel Miller. Arthur leaves behind to cherish precious memories and legacy a loving and devoted wife of fifty seven (57) years, Johnnie M. Hunter Delaine; his children, Laundria (Paul) Brown, Mobile, AL., Reginald (Yvonne) Miller, Kennesaw, GA., Ekandrea (David) Norwood of Toney, AL; grandchilddren - Shanavia Brown, Jazmine Maxwell, Ekandra (Jonathan) Bortoli, Leanna (Ronnie) Collins, Alicia Brown, Tiffany Norwood, Christopher Norwood, Taylor Depree, Isaiah Stevens, Ve'Amber (Asia) Miller, Matthew Norwood, Jonathan Norwood, Angela Pallee-Dane' Delaiine, and Arthur-Tae-Sean Grant-Artre' Norwood; great grandchildren, Jermaine Lutin, Jr., Shaniya Brown, Christopher Harris, Jr., Jazlyn Maxwell, Lynnox Maxwell, Alexandra Bortoli and Pharah Collins; brother, Charles (Mattie) Delaine, Cuba, AL; sisters - Earnestine Pearce of Illinois, Christine Delaine of Georgia, Melva Lue Delaine, Cuba, AL., Patricia Foster of Illinois, and Diann Delaine of Georgia; sisters-in-law - Emma Delaine, Jessie Delaine, Betty Carson, Leota (Johnny) Jackson and Sarah Delaine; cousin Charles Delaine; and a host of nieces and nephews of whom he loved very much; many friends, and a special friendship with Jimmy Lee Jones.
