Obituary ALIGEE MAXWELL DELAINE, age 86, of Cuba, Alabama, affectionately known as "Al" was the first of four children born to the late Gilbert and Emma Bunting Maxwell in Clinton, Alabama. She graduated with honors from the Greene County Public School System, and matriculated at Stillman University and University of West Alabama. She began her teaching career at Kinterbish High School Cuba, Alabama, and there she met the "love of her life" Warren C. Delaine and they were married on June 7, 1958 and to this union was born one daughter. After the death of his mother in October 1965, a son, Rickey was added to her family and she became his mother. After her marriage she became a faithful member of Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church Cuba, Alabama serving in several ministries of the church. in 1970 she transferred to Sumter County High School York, Alabama where her students continued to thrive under her innovative teaching methodology . Aligee eventually accepted a position at Livingston High School as the school's counselor, and there she remined for the rest of her 38 years of her educational career in Sumter County Alabama Public School System. Funeral service will be Saturday at 12:00 PM at her beloved Zion Hill (5901 Kinterbish #10 36907) with Pastor C. Wayne Davis officiating and interment in the Delaine family plot of Cagus Cemetery. Her loving survivors are: devoted husband of 62 years; Warren C. Delaine, daughter; Janet Renee (Nick) Slaughter, son; Rickey DeLaine, granddaughter; Erica Sykes, brother; Bobby (Dorothy) Maxwell, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Her remains will lie in repose on Thursday from 4:00 until 7:00 PM at the funeral home in Fairfield, and on Friday from 2:00 until 6:00 PM at Weatherly Funeral Home York, Alabama. **All Covid restrictions mandated by the CDC will be followed for the service.** The funeral service will be streamed @ Zion Hill MBC Cuba on Saturday.
