Alick Sledge, a beloved member of the community in Livingston, AL, affectionately known as "Bay Bro" passed away on July 13, 2024, in his hometown at the age of 57 due to natural causes. He was born on March 26, 1967 to the union of the late Abraham and Eva Mae Sledge. A public viewing in honor of Alick will be held at Weatherly Funeral Home on July 19, 2024, at 3:00 pm, allowing friends and family to pay their respects. The funeral service will take place the following day, July 20, 2024, at 11:00 am at the Greater Mt. Olive Primitive Baptist Church of Boyd, Alabama. Rev. Robert Burton, pastor, will deliver the eulogy offering words of comfort and consolation; with Sister Juliet Parker serving as Mistress of Order. Following the service, interment will be held at Mt. Hebron Cemetery in Lauderdale, MS. He accepted Christ as his Savior and united with the Union Chapel C.M.E. Church in Ward, Alabama under the leadership of Pastor Joyce McCoy where he was a dedicated member until his health failed him. He received his education in the Sumter County School System. He was employed with Dial Logging and Narkeeta Timber Company as long as his health in abled him to do so. Alick was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Robert Lee Sledge. He leaves to cherish his memories: two sisters, Cassandra Sledge of Livingston, AL. and Minnie Herrod of Tuscaloosa, AL; one brother, Jerry Glen Sledge of Ward, AL; sister-in-law Brenda Naylor Sledge of Porterville, MS; uncle Alvin Burton of Montgomery, AL; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who loved him dearly. May Alick Sledge rest in peace, knowing that he was cherished and admired by many. Let us come together to honor his life and the joy he brought to all who knew him.
