BESSIE LEE BROOKS, age 84, of Ward, Alabama, passed May 19, 2015 at Anderson Regional Medical Center, Meridian, Mississippi. Service of remembrance is Sunday, May 24, 2015 at 12:00 noon from St. John Missionary Baptist Church, Ward, with interment following in the adjacent St. John Cemetery. Rev. Pettis Lockett, pastor, will deliver the eulogy and offer words of consolation. Sister Brooks will lie in repose one hour prior to funeral time. Visitation for family and friends is in the Weatherly Chapel from 1-6:00 p.m. Saturday, May 23rd. After the committal service repast takes place at the Jimerson Family Hall, Highway 17 South, Ward, Alabama.She leaves to cherish her memories: one son, Michael (Pamela) Brooks; four daughters, Bessie Louise (Rickey) Maye, Bell Chaney, Janice (Rev. Ronald) Chaney, and Cynthia (Michael) Hughes; twelve surrogate children- Thomas (Sheryl) Ausbrooks, Davis (Linda) Brooks, Eddie Jo (Michelle) Brooks, Scott Michael (Cassandra) Richerson, Sadie Gordon, Elizabeth (Walter) Gardner, Clara (Kevin) Byous, Carrie (Don) Cunningham, Brenda Toddle, Rosie (Eugene) Griffin, Gloria (Robert) Mitchell, Anntonia Richerson; one daughter-in-law, Mary Louise Ausbrooks; two brothers - Floyd Chaney and Prince Law; two sisters - Carrie Jordan and Katie Chaney; thirty-nine (39) grandchildren; fifty (50) great grandchildren; best friend JoAnn Moody; Master Sergeant John Camacho, who was like a son to her; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends who loved her dearly.
